The Switch is still capable of playing these games, but it will require buying an extra set of Joy-Cons. Out of the box, this smaller and cheaper version of the Switch cannot play games that require motion controls or do not support handheld mode. The bottom edge includes a USB connector for the AC adapter and a microSD slot. The game card slot, audio jack, volume, and power buttons are located along the top with the Z buttons tucked just behind the R and L.
Other than the omissions of the TV docking feature, the Switch Lite uses a largely similar arrangement and layout of buttons as its mainstream Switch counterpart. The device reportedly has a better battery life, having 4-7 hours versus the 3-6 hours of the original Nintendo Switch, but the revised models of the original platform have since been tweaked with even battery life.

I worry that an unsuspecting Super Smash Bros. I worry for the grandparent who goes to buy a Blue Nintendo Switch Lite during the holiday season, and is confused and worried when the Walmart Electronics associate hands them a handheld just a few shades away from repping the original 1988 Barney the Dinosaur.
But I worry about the GameStop associate that is going to inevitably get in argument with a belligerent customer who insists upon their interpretation of the device’s color. They’ve served me well since I bought it in 2017, and there’s no sign of Joy-Con drift yet. I’m satisfied with my Super Mario Odyssey Switch that came with dope red Joy-Cons.
